PURPOSE OF JOB:
To assist the Corporate Controller by performing detailed work assignments in the following areas: general accounting, receivables, payables, general ledger and financial statements. Run entire payroll function for approximately 100 multi-state employees.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ASSISTANT CONTROLLER:
Responsible for special reports and analyses involving financial data, as assigned by Controller. Reports include weekly cash flow, monthly vendor activity, receivables, bank fees, etc.
Prepare monthly bank and account reconciliations.
Assist Controller in preparation of financial statements.
Works closely with the IT team to ensure current accounting systems are functioning properly and to develop enhancements to the systems as needed.
Trains and directs the work of personnel involved in detailed accounting entries, internal financial reporting, both locally and at the branch level.
Assists Controller with annual review by outside auditors and annual budget preparation.
Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by Controller and upper management.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES PAYROLL:
Payroll processing for multi-state payroll using ADP Workforce. Calculate and process employee wages, including salaried and hourly employees, bonuses, overtime and deductions.
Ensure accurate calculation of tax withholding including federal, state and local taxes.
Vacation and sick leave accruals
Prepare payroll billings for branch offices each pay period
Prepare payroll reports using ADP Reporting and EXCEL
Assist employees with payroll related questions.
Prepares semi-monthly report for employee’s HSA contributions submission
Performs other duties and special reports/projects assigned by upper management
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance or business administration preferred
Payroll experience using ADP Workforce now preferred
Good financial analysis skills as evidence in previous work experience.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to relate to all levels within the organization and outside contacts.
Outstanding problem-solving skills
The ability to perform quality work with accuracy
The ability to work under stress, handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Must be able to work normal business hours including additional hours required during month-end, audit and year-end periods
