Dynamic well established North Bay construction company seeks an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team and play a pivotal role in managing financial operations. Position Summary: The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting functions, ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations, and delivering accurate and timely financial reports. The ideal candidate will have experience in accounting for the construction industry, excellent leadership skills, and a strong understanding of job costing, contracts, and budgeting within a construction environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.
Manage and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance and ensuring high levels of performance.
Monitor job costing and financial performance of ongoing construction projects, ensuring that costs are accurately allocated and
within budget.
Prepare financial statements, reports, and forecasts in accordance with company policies and deadlines.
Ensure compliance with industry-specific financial regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements.
Collaborate with project managers to track and report on the financial status of construction projects.
Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and financial integrity.
Manage the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and analysis.
Assist in the preparation of financial audits and liaise with external auditors as required.
Review and improve financial processes and systems for efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 10+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role, preferably within the construction
industry.
Strong knowledge of construction accounting practices, including job costing, contracts, and project financial management.
Proficient in MS365 applications
Previous experience with public works project reporting and construction laws a plus
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
