The Microbiologist position is a full-time temp to hire position in Santa Maria, CA. Shifts are 8 hours, and any candidate must have open availability to include nights and weekends. Pay rate for this position is $24 to $28/hr (DOE).

Duties & Responsibilities:

Work independently to utilize cultural and rapid methodologies (real-time PCR, etc.) to identify pathogens, indicators, and spoilage organisms in food, water and environmental samples

Proactively managing the laboratory personnel to ensure adherence to company protocols and values

Interacting with clients by communicating test results, answering questions, and sending sampling supplies based on their needs

Developing, maintaining, and measuring processes to increase the accuracy of turn-around-time for results

Ensuring implementation of QA/QC program with regards to all operations and documentation requirements

Provide training to new personnel, as well as coaching and mentoring to facilitate the staff's professional and personal growth

Skills & Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, plus hands-on laboratory experience.

Work experience should include knowledge of sterile technique and pure culture maintenance.

The candidate must have proven problem solving an trouble shooting skills along with strong verbal and written communication in English (Spanish capabilities a plus).

Strong time management, organizational and people skills are highly desired.

Must have flexible work schedule, including weekends.

Travel is required.
