Avail Medsystems is a pioneering medical technology company that is reinventing how medical procedures are supported by industry and clinicians. We are committed to delivering HIPAA compliant real-time video conferencing solutions that improve the quality, and lower the cost, of procedural care delivery. Our first-generation Avail Systems are currently being used to support procedures in the United States. Physicians are able to instantly connect with enhanced on demand support that is better than being there, with added capabilities such as the ability to annotate over live or paused video. We are looking for self-starters, who are good team players, to join us as we transform when, where and how procedural support is delivered.

Position OverviewAt Avail, our mission is straightforward: provide video and audio collaboration technology that enables medical experts to assist in life-saving surgeries – anytime, anywhere. To achieve that mission, we need the best and brightest software and hardware engineers. We need you. One of the core components of our system resides in the operating room. Our Avail Console acts as our central brain, integrating with cameras, multiple displays as well as medical imaging devices. The console not only needs to host our custom collaboration application, it also act as a service broker with the ability to manage multiple ML services for A/V processing, messaging, logging, etc., to provide a platform for everything in the operating room. We are building at team to take this platform to the next level. Not only supporting the services we need today but ensuring that as we grow, we have the infrastructure to support new and bold initiatives in the operating room.

Responsibilities:You are multi-paradigm, combining your key-learnings in server-based infrastructure with your application-level expertise running on single machines.

Requirements/Qualifications:You have strong experience in the following:
  • UNIX based platforms (Linux strongly preferred
  • MacOS
You have strong experience in most (or all) of the following:
  • Working with IP-based video platforms
  • Application Gateways
  • Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and designing and developing Microservices
  • Familiarity with formal design patterns
  • Developing, using and/or integrating operational tools
  • Working with field engineering and support teams
  • Various messaging and data storage paradigms
  • Security best-practices
Advanced knowledge of two or more of the following:
  • Server-side JavaScript (Node.js plus Express.js and/or Fastify)
  • C-based language [C/C/Objective-C]
  • JVM-based language [Java/Scala/etc]
  • Swift
  • Python
CS Degree or equivalent experience required
