Local boat repair company in need of experienced and entry level marine diesel mechanics. Work in the beautiful Santa Barbara harbor and be apart of our community. We are a small, but growing and reputable company who values its employees and has a lively atmosphere.
You will be responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair and service of gas and diesel engines, generators, outboards, transmission and drives, and prep and install of engine rebuilds and repowers.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance (i.e. oil change, impeller, belts).
- Diagnose and troubleshoot.
- Perform repair work (i.e. inspect parts for issues; remove and replace parts).
- Complete repair work within the established time frame
- Ensure all warranty work is completed according to manufacturer and dealership guidelines.
- Maintain tools in good condition and according to guidelines.
- Assist other departments when necessary.
Required Abilities
- Good driving record and reliable transportation.
- Must have mobile hand tools and some specialty tools.
- Lift 50 pounds or more.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to take and follow direction.
- Self motivated to work alone and as a team member
- Ability to comprehend and utilize technical service manuals
- Unlimited or unimpaired ability to walk, bend, stoop, climb, and work safely around water, on a ladder, or in a confined space
- Must be available M-F full time and willing to work on the weekends from time to time for emergency jobs.
Education and Experience
- Intermediate/Senior position - must have minimum 5 years marine diesel experience
- Entry Level position - mechanical background required.
- Mechanical certifications a plus
Compensation
- Skill and mechanic level-dependent $20-$40
