We are a high-end building contractor looking to expand our workforce. While we mainly focus on residential remodels, we perform some commercial work and new construction. We work anywhere in Santa Barbara County, but mostly in Santa Barbara and the Santa Ynez Valley. We are looking to hire tradesmen with various levels of experience. General requirements for all grades.
- Driver's license, citizenship or work permit / visa.
- Your own truck or van, tools commensurate with grade. You must be able to commute to jobsites from Carpinteria to Los Alamos, but mostly in Santa Barbara or Santa Ynez.
- Punctuality. Workdays are Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm.
- Good Attitude.
- Honesty. During the application process, there will be a background check. Prior offenses are not an immediate disqualification, so long as they are in the past and declared up front.
- Hygiene. We work in client’s homes, and expect our crew to be clean and orderly, both in their work and their appearance. Intoxication on the job is not acceptable and will result in immediate termination.
- Communication. Can speak and understand English fluently and communicate concerns, comments, and questions to supervisors in a respectful manner.
- Physically able to carry 50 - 100 lbs.
Grades and associated pay:
Level 1: Apprentice / Laborer - $23-30 per hour
Job expectations: Going to supply houses to get materials, cleaning job sites, moving and staging materials and tools, digging trenches and working with tools and equipment large and small, demolition and all stages of construction. At the same time, you will be trained in all aspects of construction as they are performed. An ambitious attitude to learn and grow in the position. Our goal is to train you into a competent builder.
Experience: Minimal experience required.
Requirements: Truck or van with racks capable of carrying 16’ lumber, 250 lbs. Tape measure, razor blade, pencil, hammer, broom.
Level 2: Tradesman - $30-40 per hour
Job expectations: Framing, finish carpentry, drywall tape and texture, concrete finishing, tile setting, light plumbing and electrical work. Able to be lined out on a jobsite daily / weekly and perform tasks in a workmanlike manner. Ability to direct apprentice laborers as needed.
Experience: 1-3 years in the trades, framing and finish carpentry a must. Experience in additional trades is a plus.
Requirements: Truck or van with racks. Reasonable complement of tools including drill and driver, skilsaw, Sawzall, bags, hand tools, etc.
Level 3: Bags-on Supervisor - $40-50 per hour
Job expectations: High level of competence in all aspects of construction. Ability to execute construction from start to finish, reading structural and architectural plans, running crews from 2 to 5 people, fine finishes, etc. This is not a superintendent or project manager position. Requires someone of high ability to take direction and execute according to architect’s / engineer’s / designer’s vision.
Experience: 5 or more years in the trades, with experience in all aspects of residential construction.
Requirements: Full complement of tools.
