Explore Ecology is currently hiring an EE Makerspace Coordinator to oversee all programming and develop exciting new opportunities for our community to get creative, including workshops for all ages- preschool to adult, school partnerships, and private events. The EE Makerspace Coordinator’s primary role will be to organize and coordinate all art programming in unison with the Art From Scrap Creative Reuse Store Coordinator. The EE Makerspace Coordinator reports to the Executive Director.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

EE Makerspace programming - Create, plan, and implement:

Public programming for children and adults

School & Community partnerships

Private events including space rentals, birthday parties, corporate events, etc.

Develop and lead workshops

Recruit and train volunteers and interns

Recruit and collaborate with local artists on Guest Artist Workshops

Create and showcase innovative projects with samples and instruction

EE Makerspace Care and Maintenance:

Operate and maintain EE Makerspace Equipment while educating others on how to properly operate equipment (laser cutter, sewing machines, Cricut)

Materials management

Maintain, clean, and organize the EE Makerspace environment

Community Outreach in Support of the EE Makerspace

Work with PR Director to create advertisements for events

Manage event booking and website listings

Generate impact reports for monthly and quarterly workshop attendance

Attend events offsite- some weekends and evenings

Support Art From Scrap Creative Reuse Store

EXPERIENCE

Professional experience in a relevant field (Education, Art, Program Coordination, Maker Education)

Experience working with large groups of students from preschool to adult

Experience leading and supervising workshops, preferably with adults

Experience utilizing a variety of materials and art forms to create projects and make ideas come to life

Grant writing and management (not required)

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree desired or similar relevant experience

Teaching experience preferred

DESIRABLE SKILLS

A creative person, willing to take risks and explore a wide variety of materials and projects

Passionate about arts and crafts, especially creative reuse, open to learning new art techniques and mediums

Comfortable using Makerspace equipment and power tools (Glowforge, sewing machines, hand tools)

Organization and ability to manage multiple projects at once, good record-keeping and documentation

Confident speaking in front of large groups - from children to adults

Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, highly collaborative

Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Slack, Asana, Canva, Square

SCHEDULING - Start Date is August 1, 2025

Full Time: approximately 30-40 hours per week

Must be able to work 1-2 evenings per week and Saturdays

PAY AND BENEFITS

Pay Range: $21 - $25 per hour DOE

Full Time Employee: 30-40 hours

2 weeks per year of paid vacation

9 days per year of sick time

8 paid holidays per year
