The Technical Writer plays a critical role in documenting and enhancing the security program for a high-profile customer. Responsibilities include writing, updating, organizing, and formatting various operational and technological documents. By leveraging subject matter expertise, the Technical Writer actively contributes to minimizing contradictions and discrepancies between pre-existing documents or conflicts that may arise during the roll-out of new procedures. This position entails close collaboration with operational teams, where the Technical Writer will participate in meetings and provide insight on new procedures, technologies, and updates to outdated processes. The Technical Writer will also partner with the training team to assist with the creation and review of new curriculum to ensure that new training materials accurately capture the operational documentation.RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and post orders for security services provided to the client, as well as writing/documenting security policies
Direct oversight over the drafting, editing, and execution of any security SOPs or Post Orders, which have the ability to dictate or change security posture
Create clear, concise, and accurate documentation by gathering information from subject matter experts (SMEs) and conducting independent research
Edit and revise existing documentation to ensure consistency, clarity, and adherence to organizational guidelines
Consolidate multiple sources of information into cohesive and user-friendly documents
Collaborate with cross-functional operations and training teams to gather input and ensure accuracy of content
Create and maintain a comprehensive writing formatting and style guide that aligns with industry standards and best practices
Provide writing inputs to support various projects including proposals, reports, training materials, and client communications
Direct systematic audits; develop strategies to resolve deficiencies
Adhere to project timelines and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure consistent and effective communication of security-related information
Serve as a digital document librarian, curating the organization and maintenance of program documents, including the archiving of superseded materials
Spearhead the creation of a comprehensive program-wide style guide and will formalize a process by which operational teams can request new writing projects
Selection and placement of direct reports; design and implement career development and performance improvement plans; direct, prioritize, and edit work product of staff
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess one or more of the following:
Bachelor's degree in English, history, communications, or a closely related field
Technical or professional writing certification
Associate’s degree in English, history, communications, or a closely related field with a minimum of four (4) years of technical writing experience
High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of six (6) years of technical writing experience
Must possess one or more of the following:
Minimum of two (2) years of work experience as a technical writer
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a role supporting a program specific to providing technical instruction or guidance
Proven experience in generating technical process documentation, preferably in the security industry
Proficiency in using documentation tools and software, such as Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and content management systems
Excellent writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner
Strong knowledge of document organization and archiving principles, ensuring accessibility and compliance
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, providing valuable insights and communicating complex concepts clearly
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and proactively seek out information from subject matter experts and stakeholders
Excellent time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience producing writing for law enforcement, military security, or private security industry
Familiarity with creating project process documents and style guides

Pay Rate: $90,000-$95,016 / year
