POSITION: Welder/Metal Fabricator
Pay range: $22 to $28 hr (DOE)
Position Summary: The Welder’s primary responsibility is mig welding and fabricating
rectangular frames with mild steel rectangular tube. Each job must be run with safety, accuracy
and timeliness in the welding area. Tig welding with aluminum and stainless steel is a plus, but
not required.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Mig welding and metal fabrication including the following:
Creating cut lists based on finished frame drawings
Making jigs and executing consistent clamping setups for welding/metal fab production
Create quality frames according to shop drawings.
Inspect welds for accuracy and upholding OMNI written quality standards
Cutting, grinding, drilling, and tapping steel/aluminum/stainless parts.
Perform equipment maintenance and replacing welding wire and gas tanks, as needed.
Responsible for the proper packaging, identifying and moving of all finished products to the
proper location.
Responsible for checking equipment before it is used for safety
Ensure all equipment is properly set-up and used in a safe manner and that all safety devices
are in use.
Operate fork lift to move material
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Will be required to cross-train as back-up in other areas of the manufacturing plant.
Required to have proper and accurate entry into the time and attendance system.
Other job-related duties as may be necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position.
Responsible for checking environment to insure it is safe, before performing any work.
Responsible for not performing any work out in the rain, to prevent getting wet.
Work Relationships and Scope:
Reports directly to the Welding Workcenter Lead; Daily interaction with operations/operators
and other work centers.
Performance Expectations:
Safety, Quality, Accuracy, Timeliness, Reliability and Thoroughness in work performed.
Professional conduct and clear and respectful communication with work center lead, co-
workers and other employees. Develops good working relationships with work center lead and
rest of OMNI team to help achieve company goals and deadlines. Develops working knowledge
of OMNI products and production environment and has ability to respond to change. Work to
continuously improve the operations of the Welding department through lean activities and
Improvement suggestions.
Finished product Size tolerance – 1/16”
Finished product Squareness tolerance – 1/8”
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Prefer at least 4-5 years of experience working with mig welding and metal fabrication. Position
requires good arithmetic skills and the ability to read and interpret blueprints. Position requires
the ability to operate precision measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, protractors,
and tape measure.
Working Conditions:
This position works in a production environment with the risk of injury. Safety equipment must
be worn when working with equipment in the shop. Bending, lifting and pushing up to 70
pounds is required.

1. Completion of a satisfactory tryout for one day to measure skills,
knowledge, and experience.
