Overview
A first class, fine dining institution is seeking an Expert Sushi Chef/Consultant to join our corporate culinary team as we prepare to open 2 restaurant locations in San Diego. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the food industry, particularly in Japanese cuisine and sushi, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of food quality and creation. This role may lead to a potential long-term employment opportunity.
Duties
Collaborate with our culinary team to create fresh and innovative sushi options for a modern Asian menu.
Prepare and assemble sushi rolls, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with precision and creativity.
Create established recipes and presentation standards to be applied and taught to kitchen staff.
Assist in training new kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and food safety practices.
Be and stay updated on culinary trends and techniques to continually enhance menu offerings.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the restaurant or food service industry.
Strong knowledge of food safety practices and culinary techniques related to sushi preparation.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Excellent knife skills and familiarity with various types of fish and seafood.
A passion for culinary arts, particularly Japanese cuisine, with creativity in meal presentation.
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
