3-6 month contact to turn Permanent ( based on performance)

Full-time

Hours open: Monday- Sunday 5am-8pm (Your schedule will be between these days and hours, 8hour shifts, 40hours a week. Set schedule will be determined)

Job Summary:

The Food Service Associate (FSA) provides support to the Food Service department in planning and implementing the food service program. The FSA works with staff and volunteers to ensure that food quality, service, and cleanliness are maintained at the highest possible level.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain communication with Food Service Department.

Work with staff and volunteers to ensure that food quality, guest service, and kitchen/dining room cleanliness are maintained at the highest possible level.

Assist with receiving and operating supply inventories.

Enforce sanitary food handling practices and kitchen rules.

Plan and coordinate menus, utilizing food donated to the Charity, as well as purchased product.

Work with the Food Service Manager to plan menus.

Maintain a high level of quality and presentation.

Prep for meals to be served by staff and/or volunteer providers.

Model kitchen standards for quality, service, and cleanliness.

Assist with sorting, logging, and rotating stock received.

Assist with checking the quality of donated and purchased food. Discard food which has exceeded expiration dates or is in any way questionable.

Provide food service support as needed including on weekends, evenings and holidays.

Work with volunteers and staff to ensure the proper receipt, inventory, and rotation of donated and purchased food.

Ensure accurate tracking of donated product.

Report equipment/safety/sanitation issues and take corrective action as appropriate.

Log refrigerator temperatures.

Maintain cleanliness of resident and commercial kitchen utilizing cleaning checklist.

Requirements:

High Diploma or GED

1+ yrs of Kitchen work experience as a Food Service Associate; worked in a kitchen, prepared food, washing dishes, cleaning your area and serving as needed

Experience with cooking food and ensuring sanitary kitchen environment

Possess a California driver’s license and clean DMV; on occasion will need to pick supplies

Requires Food handler and ServSafe certifications

Able to work 8 hours a day between hours 5am-8pm and days M-Sunday. There will be a set schedule.

Able to be trained and handle cooking for large groups of people

Must enjoy cooking and kitchen duties; cooking, cleaning and serving food if necessary.

Experience with safe food handling and ensuring sanitary kitchen environment

Experience working with teams, including house guests, staff, and volunteer or similar team members.

Good organizational and basic math skills

Able to lift 50lbs and be on your fee for 80% of your work

Bonus: Have worked for a non-profit organization

Must pass background and drug test
