Description Our client is an industry-leading organization based in Point Loma, seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist with significant knowledge of payroll taxes and post payroll processing to join their team on a contract basis. This ideal candidate has in-house payroll processing experience, strong payroll tax knowledge, and post payroll experience. As a Payroll Specialist, your primary responsibility will be managing and operating the in-house payroll system, with a strong emphasis on payroll tax processes and post-payroll activities.Responsibilities:
Manage and execute all aspects of the payroll process accurately and on schedule.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of payroll taxes, ensuring full compliance with local, state, and federal tax laws.
Conduct post payroll processing activities timely and correctly.
Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports.
Update payroll records by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, job titles, and department/division transfers.
Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in payroll, and answer employees' questions and concerns regarding payroll.
Collaborate with the HR team to ensure seamless processing and administration of payroll.
Requirements
A minimum of 3 years of experience in in-house payroll processing.
Extensive knowledge of payroll tax laws and regulations.
Experience in post-payroll processing.
Proficiency in using payroll software and MS Office suite.
Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
Excellent time management and interpersonal skills.
