JOB SUMMARY:The Lab Clerk is responsible for all aspects of the pre-analytical process in the laboratory. Key responsibilities include:Follows Standard Operating procedures.Responsible for specimen receiving, sorting and bag openingPerforms initial data entry of test orders into the Laboratory Information SystemValidate various test orders against specimens prior to scanning and entering to ensure they match.Aliquot specimens and batch appropriately in preparation of testingEnsure correct labels are affixed to test orders, any additional documentation, specimens and test tubesMaintain a clean and organized work area at all timesEnsure work areas are properly stocked with applicable suppliesScanning and electronically filing paperworkMaintaining specimen inventory and disposing of samples using the designated machineryEntering data into designated spreadsheetsComplete final checks on all orders entered into the LIS to ensure accuracyAssists with other duties as delegatedMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:H.S. Diploma, GED,or Equivalent1 Year of ExperienceAttention to detail with high degree of accuracyAbility to interpret high volumes of information correctlyAbility to stand for long periods of timeWork successfully in a repetitive and fast-paced environmentAbility to work varied hours at times due to business needsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamProficient in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:3 Years of Experience (Preferred)Previous data entry in a similar or same industryPrevious experience in a laboratoryThe expected hiring range for this position is $21.00 to $27.75Rady Children’s Hospital is committed to compensation that is externally competitive and internally equitable.
