We are a Christian family looking for a full-time (30 – 40 hours/week), long-term nanny / “mothers helper” for our children available to start ASAP.
We have three boys: 6, 4 and 2 years old. They are wonderful kids and very active. We prioritize self-guided play, outdoor activities (biking, beach, balboa park, etc.) and VERY rarely use screens in our home. Our oldest is in school full time, our 4 YO attends a “nature school” 3 days a week. Our 2 year old is potty trained, and talks and communicates very well.
What we are looking for:
1. We generally need someone here Mon – Friday from 7 am – 5 pm, but we have another nanny who is available 15 hours per week and is very flexible to fill in some time. So, you would be here 30 – 40 hours per week, and there are quite a few options to create a schedule that may work for the right person.
2. Someone very mindful of their health. We take a very natural / holistic approach in this area as our oldest had a severe neurological reaction to his first vaccine when he was 2 months old. He suffered seizures, brain swelling, nystagmus, eczema, etc. so we no longer vaccinate our children. If you’d like to learn more about what happened to him, I’m happy to share.
3. Someone who is active, energetic, and strong. You must be able to keep up with the kids. They love going on bike rides, playing soccer, going to the beach, and we have several flights of stairs in our home, so it’s important you are comfortable in a very active environment. Please do not apply if you don’t consider yourself in great shape.
4. Someone who does not have young children of their own. We need someone with flexibility to stay late sometimes, come early, etc.
5. Must be able to communicate well in English - it doesn’t need to be your primary language, but some fluency is required. Our boys know a good amount of Spanish a nanny who was with us for 4 years.
6. Must have a clean driving record. We have a new minivan just for the kids’ transportation, so you would drive that when you’re here.
7. A LONG TERM (minimum of 2+ years) commitment, as it’s important that we find someone that our children develop healthy bonds with you. One of our nannies was with us for 4 years and became like family to us, we are looking for the same.
We really like to be involved and do as much as possible with our kids, so you will not be expected to do all these things every day, but we are looking for someone who keeps busy and likes to find ways to help. Job responsibilities will vary depending on our workloads and may vary week to week.
Prepare meals
Create art and other activities for the kids to do throughout the day
Keep house tidy (we have a housekeeper who comes twice per week, so you are not expected to deep-clean, just clean up as you go with the kids)
Assist with folding laundry
Assist with food prep (we’re primarily vegan and eat whole foods, so this would be basic help like steaming veggies, roasting potatoes, chopping cucumbers and fruit, etc.)
Wash and put away dishes throughout the day
School drop off and pick up when needed (my husband and I like to do this so we help whenever our schedules permit)
We consider the first month a “training period” and will pay $25/hour.
After that, we are willing to consider an increase in pay to $30/hour, and will provide the following additional benefits:
- 8 paid holidays
- 10 paid vacation days
