Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to support our project management team in planning, coordinating, and executing commercial construction projects. This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and a desire to grow within the construction industry. The ideal candidate would be interested in further developing their professional skills in order to grow into a bigger role within the company. This is a full time position at our office in Poway.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent in daily project coordination and execution.
- Review project plans, specifications, and contracts to ensure compliance with design and construction requirements.
- Manage RFIs (Requests for Information), submittals, and change orders to keep the project on track.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and information.
- Maintain project documentation, including meeting minutes, schedules, and logs.
- Assist in cost control by tracking budgets, reviewing invoices, and monitoring change orders.
- Conduct job site visits to ensure quality control, safety compliance, and project progress.
- Support the closeout process by compiling as-built drawings, warranties, and project documentation.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Applicant's with experience in lieu of a degree are encouraged to apply.
- 1-3 years of experience in commercial construction or a related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, drawings, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in project management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or similar.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask, work independently, and collaborate in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in construction.
- Willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
