Experienced Hotel Sales and Events Manager

The Sales & Events Manager at the Holiday Inn in Auburn is responsible for driving group and event revenue through proactive sales efforts, client relationship development, and detailed event execution. This individual is the primary contact for group bookings, meetings, and special events at the Holiday Inn, working collaboratively with the Sales Administrator, Restaurant GM, and Hotel Leadership. Success in this role depends on strong communication skills, attention to detail, responsiveness, and the ability to translate client needs into effective solutions that deliver value to both guests and the hotel.

This position applies a structured solution selling methodology—emphasizing discovery, design, and tailored proposal development—to meet revenue goals and deliver excellent guest experiences.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

2+ years of experience in hotel sales, catering, or event coordination.

Strong grasp of Select Service hotel operations, F&B/event logistics, and local market needs.

Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM platforms, and sales/event systems like TripleSeat and Monday.com.

Familiar with group sales funnel stages and lead qualification.

Valid driver’s license.

Availability for occasional evening/weekend work.

Must be able to stand for extended periods and assist with event prep (up to 25 lbs).

Food Handlers and RBS certification (or obtain within 30 days of hire).

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales Approach: Solution Selling Process

The Sales & Events Manager is expected to use a structured, consultative approach to all client interactions:

Discover – Ask questions to identify customer needs, stay patterns, booking behavior, and project-based opportunities.

Design – Craft customized proposals and rate structures that balance client value with hotel revenue strategy, accounting for comp set positioning and walk-away thresholds.

Propose – Present offerings through Local Negotiated Rate (LNR) and group agreements.

Close – Handle client questions and objections to finalize deals.

Activate – Work with the Director of Revenue & Sales (DORS) to implement contracts and rate codes in hotel systems and track usage/production.

Sales & Revenue Generation

Proactively qualify and pursue group business across wedding, corporate, sports, leisure, and government segments.

Manage the sales pipeline in partnership with the Sales Administrator, tracking each opportunity through all funnel stages: New Lead, Discovery, Negotiation, Contracting, Booked, Lost, or Future.

Identify and maintain an updated sales target list of all revenue opportunities.

Deliver prompt, solution-oriented communication to ensure exceptional client satisfaction in alignment with Reneson Hotels’ guest service standards.

Build and maintain strong account relationships through consistent outreach, timely follow-up, and effective issue resolution.

Collaborate with front desk teams to identify and act on sales opportunities uncovered through daily arrival reports and team communication.

Analyze competitor activity and evolving market trends to refine group agreements and adjust account strategies.

Utilize brand-provided tools and platforms to manage, respond to, and plan for incoming requests for proposals (RFPs).

Contribute to the development of the annual sales and marketing plan in coordination with the General Manager and Director of Revenue & Sales (DORS).

Maintain and execute a monthly, quarterly, bi-annual, and annual sales calendar

Event Management & Banquets

Serve as the main client contact for meeting and event planning.

Lead BEO and pre-event planning, communicating room setup and catering details to the Restaurant GM, Hotel GM, and service teams via weekly touchpoints.

Monitor event execution to ensure guest satisfaction, promptly address guest concerns or complaints, or delegate clearly to the Manager on Duty (MOD) when appropriate.
