We are looking for a weekend caregiver for a young man with Autism. He is 28 years old. He is very kind and mellow most of the time. He has never been aggressive towards another human ever. He loves everything Disney. Loves to, watch movies, play music and sing. His favorite foods are cheese and pasta. He loves to go to Old Spaghetti Factory for dinner. He is kind of a home body and really needs someone who will interact with him. When he gets sad, anxious or frustrated he can yell loudly to himself and needs help/ coaching to calm down. He mainly needs a companion to be his friend, look out for him and do fun things with. We really need someone who is upbeat, able to monitor themselves and be productive during your shift. You must be willing to interact with him and get him out of his shell. This is not a "sit on the couch" position. He is a very rewarding and sweet person to work with. I have been on his care team for almost 20 years, managing it for 4 years and I love him like a brother. He is the sweetest soul.
Our weekend caregiver has to leave us for personal reasons. We will need someone Saturday 10am to stay the night and through the weekend until Monday at 10am.
This is how it looks on the schedule:
Saturday 10am-Sunday 10am
Sunday 10am-Monday 10 am
We call this a 48 hr position. Part of the time you will be sleeping/ overnight.
If you cannot work these specific hours please do not apply.
We have a private staff bedroom and bathroom on the main floor with full size bed. TV and computer.
Some of the Job duties relating to his caregiving:
- Administer daily medication
- Laundry
- Help him with daily and nightly hygiene routine
- Meal prep
- Tidy and Clean common areas including kitchen and dishes
- Sweeping if needed etc all staff do a good job of cleaning and keeping it clean we ask you do the same
- Disinfecting surfaces etc.
- Keeping his bathroom and your bathroom clean
- Take him on fun outings, to eat, the park- he loves to swing (we reimburse mileage) etc.
We will discuss more upon hire.
The biggest thing is the importance of care and how you care for him. With kindness and consideration. He doesn't have many people he interacts with, you will be a main piece of that interaction in his life. We are looking for someone that will care about him and want to be around for a while and help us give him a fulfilling life.
The pay is $20/ hr. Employment is through a nonprofit. It is a W2 position. You will be required to pass a background check, and must have a valid CA driver's license and vehicle.
