OverviewBuilt-in 1973 Dignity Health Methodist Hospital of Sacramento is committed to providing daily excellence in health care for residents of Sacramento’s southern suburbs including the Elk Grove Wilton and Galt communities. Methodist Hospital is home to a 158 acute-care bed facility with 1120 employees 283 medical staff and 29 Emergency Department beds. Methodist Hospital also owns and operates Bruceville Terrace – a 171-bed sub-acute skilled nursing long-term care facility adjacent to the hospital that provides care for the elderly as well as those requiring extended recoveries. Methodist Hospital is home to the Family Medicine Residency Program an accredited and nationally recognized program which provides resident physicians with specialty training in primary care family medicine. Together the hospital and residency program implemented a ground-breaking curriculum addressing the identification treatment and assistance of human trafficking victims and created a one-of-a-kind health clinic for victims the Human Trafficking Medical Home.Responsibilities$5,000 Sign-On Bonus offered for qualified new hires. Per policy, current employees are not eligible.The incumbent performs general radiographic procedures as well as more complex procedures according to written or transcribed verbal orders of a physician within the scope of his/her certification at all MHS facilities according to established standards and practices under the direction of the Imaging Supervisor and the Medical Director. Demonstrates competency in patient care for neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Other duties are assigned/approved by the Supervisor. Technologist can be required to participate in the department's call schedule to ensure coverage weeknights, weekends and holidays.

Uses independent judgment to assess the particular circumstances of each procedure, performs a broad range of imaging procedures to produce diagnostic medical images that meet the acceptability criteria established by the Department Chairman. Measured by no more than 3 formal complaints by radiologists using the Technologist Audit Form.

Complies with all Performance Expectations of Standard III for Radiologic Technologist 95% - 98% of time.

Positively identifies patient and correlates procedure with the physician's order. Explains procedure to patient and responds to patient questions/concerns before beginning. Assures written consents are completed before proceeding when required by hospital standard practice. Completes Interdisciplinary Teaching Record (ITR) as appropriate. Measured by record/chart review with 95%-98% compliance.

Maintains a neat and clean work area, observes that equipment is in safe operating condition 95% - 98% of the time. Reports equipment issues to supervisor or seeks appropriate resources for repair within one hour; measured by observation and no more than 1-2 formal complaints about faulty equipment and dirty work area per year.

Maintains and preserves patient privacy, dignity, and comfort by using table pads, patient gowns, blankets, and sheets, etc. to cover the patient during all procedures 95% - 98% of time. Measured by observation and no more than 1 -2 formal complaints per year in this area.

Participates in QI/QC efforts within Imaging Services and with other departments to improve services and to solve problems. Assists with data collection, correlation, and reporting as documented in meeting minutes and/or monthly QA/QC reports. Can exceed the expectation by actively participating in an identified project.

QualificationsLicensure:

Current licensure as a Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT)

Registration in Radiography from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) preferred

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Displays competency in general radiology in addition to one other modality: Angiography - Special Procedures, MRI, CT, or Mammography.Anatomy and physiology for imaging including cross-sectional relationships. Medical terminology relating to Imaging. Principles of operation and care of primary and accessory imaging equipment. Currently accepted diagnostic Radiologic procedures.Radiation safety requirements and practices for the operator, patient, and public. Film processing systems and/or PACS. Preparation, use, and hazards of diagnostic contrast materials. Ability to minimize radiation exposure to patients, self, and other persons. Perform general and specialized radiographic procedures which meet the department's standard of quality.Recognize and respond to allergic reactions and other life-threatening patient conditions which might arise during the examination process. Act courteously and with tact in dealing with patients, visitors, and the public. Effectively and empathetically deal with agitated, ill, and distressed patients.Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with physicians and other healthcare personnel. Maintain patient confidentiality. Calm and reassure those who may be distressed by the examination or procedure. Develop and maintain a cooperative working relationship with physicians and hospital personnel.Work effectively under stress and adjust priorities as circumstances require. Organized work assignments, maintaining accurate and complete records. Maintain a high degree of accuracy in procedural detail. Accurately operate and care for Information System computers in the department.Work independently on-call covering all normal clerical and technical functions.
