AECOM is seeking a Program Document Control Senior Manager for one of our offices in Sacramento, CA. JOB SUMMARY: This role will manage the end-to-end document control lifecycle for a high-value, complex program. The Document Controller ensures all program documentation is accurate, current, approved, securely stored, and accessible. This role requires deep expertise in metadata management to enable robust traceability, audit readiness, and compliance with internal standards and external regulatory requirements.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain and enforce document control processes from document creation to final archiving.Coordinate with technical teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure timely document submission, review, approval, distribution, and revision control.Register incoming and outgoing documentation, ensuring all records are assigned correct metadata, versioning, and status.Apply and validate metadata against program standards (e.g., Document Numbering, Revision History, Status, Classification, etc.).Monitor metadata quality across the program's document repository to support accurate searching, filtering, and reporting.Ensure compliance with controlled metadata fieldsMaintain program documentation within a Document Management System (DMS) such as Aconex, SharePoint, TeamBinder, or similar.Generate document transmittals and support automated workflows where applicable.Assist with system configurations and continuous improvement of metadata templates and registers.Ensure documents meet internal standards, regulatory, and contractual obligations (e.g., ISO 9001, project specs).Prepare and maintain document registers, metadata reports, and compliance logs.Support internal and external audits by providing accurate metadata logs, version history, and controlled copies.Liaise with project managers, engineers, QA teams, and external contractors to align document workflows and metadata practices.Provide guidance and training to staff on document control processes and metadata standards.
