Job Posting: Desktop Application SpecialistState Teachers' Retirement SystemJC-459868-Desktop Application SpecialistINFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST I$6,323.00 - $10,230.00 per MonthFinal Filing Date: 1/2/2025Job Description and DutiesThe CalSTRS IT Infrastructure & Operations Division is seeking a motivated individual to work as a Desktop Application Specialist on the IT Infrastructure/Client Technology Infrastructure Team within the Technology Services Branch.The IT Infrastructure and Operations Division manages the core technology infrastructure needed to support the CalSTRS business. This infrastructure includes client technology; network, servers, and storage infrastructure; and technology disaster recovery. The IT Infrastructure and Operations Division also provides technology related operational support for CalSTRS. The IT Infrastructure and Operations Division is comprised of the following team: Client Technology Infrastructure, Client Technology Services, Technology Disaster Recovery, Network Infrastructure, and the Service Desk.The Client Technology Infrastructure team is committed to providing innovative, cost effective and customer-centric services that are aligned with CalSTRS strategic and business plans. CTI is a high performing, self-driven and results-oriented team. CTI develops standards for end-user technology equipment, hardware and software based on business needs, market trends and industry best practices. CTI provides quality and timely third level, end-user technical support and services to CalSTRS employees and contractors. CTI supports a wide range of client technologies across numerous verticals including investments, pension and financials.Under the direction of the Client Technology Infrastructure Manager, the Information Technology Specialist I works as the Desktop Application Specialist and is responsible to apply in-depth technical knowledge to perform tasks requiring innovative problem-solving within broadly stated and non-specific guidelines. The incumbent provides end-user computing services and support. This Desktop Application Specialist performs tasks to improve services for personal computing devices and to monitor and improve the processes for supporting these devices. This The incumbent also develops job-aids or processes for other technical staff, provides end-user computing services and support, and works closely with other IT Infrastructure and Operations staff to provide quality products and servicesThe ideal candidate will possess the following skills: Broad knowledge of IT infrastructure and application support models, both cloud and on-premises. Knowledge and experience with managing desktop applications, both on physical devices and virtual machines. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Experience collaborating across multiple technical teams to facilitate technical troubleshooting. Experience in creating and maintaining technical support documents for all levels of technical staff and management. Ability to work independently on projects or assignments without detailed instructions, adapting to change as needed. Understanding of ITIL framework standards. Knowledge in creating and deploying desktop images.Every 12 months, based on performance evaluation, employees may receive a 5% salary increase until they reach the maximum salary for the position.Telework Information: We offer a hybrid approach including in-office and remote work solutions with staff working on-site at our Headquarters in West Sacramento 2 days per week.Does this opportunity seem right for you?
