REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
Essential duties of the role:
- Deliver comprehensive ceramics classes and workshops for students of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced.
- Instruct students in various ceramics techniques, including hand-building, wheel throwing, trimming and glazing
- Verbally walk students through proper techniques and provide hands-on guidance to students, helping them refine their skills and unleash their creativity.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment, encouraging students to explore their own artistic style and express themselves through ceramics.
- Stay updated on current trends, advancements, and innovations in ceramics, integrating them into the curriculum to enhance the learning experience.
- Ensure the proper use, maintenance, and safety of ceramics equipment, tools, and materials in the studio.
- Assist students in the proper and safe use of a variety of equipment within the studio
- Perform related duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFCATIONS
background in ceramics techniques or Art, including hand-building, wheel throwing, trimming, glazing, and kiln firing.
Proven experience as a Ceramic or Art Instructor, Pottery Teacher, or similar role.
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students of all ages and skill levels.

-Ability to create a nurturing and supportive learning environment that fosters artistic growth and experimentation.
-Knowledge of ceramics materials, tools, and safety protocols.
-Strong organizational and time management skills.
-Flexibility and adaptability to accommodate different learning styles and student needs.
-A portfolio showcasing your own artwork is preferred, but not required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: Two years practical experience working with ceramics and Associate's degree in Art or a related field with coursework in art, ceramics, and/or sculpture.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
-Principles, practices, procedures, and equipment used in various ceramic and sculpture processes and techniques, including clay and glaze chemistry.
-Safety regulations involving materials and equipment used in a ceramics studio.
-Basic record-keeping techniques.
-Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.
-Studio organization, operations, policies, and objectives.
-Basic computer operation.
-Oral and written communication skills.
-Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
-Proper methods of storing equipment, materials, and supplies.
ABILITY TO:
-Provide information and assistance to students on basic studio operations and logistics.
-Safely operate, maintain, and demonstrate the use of specialized equipment, materials, and supplies.
-Operate a computer terminal and related software applications.
-Understand and follow oral and written directions.
-Work independently with little direction.
-Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
-Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
-Meet schedules and timelines.
OTHER INFORMATION
WORK DIRECTION, LEAD AND SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Not applicable – no permanent full-time staff to supervise.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Ceramics studio, storage areas.
