Description Job Summary:Our client, a leading manufacturing company, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join their finance team on a contract basis. This position provides an excellent opportunity for a senior-level accountant to manage complex accounting functions, oversee financial reporting, and support operational teams in the manufacturing sector.Key Responsibilities:Financial Reporting & Analysis:
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP and industry standards.
Perform financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including management and board-level presentations.
Cost Accounting & Inventory Management:
Manage cost accounting processes, including tracking manufacturing costs, labor, and overhead.
Perform detailed variance analysis to ensure cost efficiency and profitability.
Oversee inventory reconciliation and valuation, ensuring accurate reporting of inventory and work in progress.
Support product costing, standard cost updates, and cost of goods sold (COGS) calculations.
Month-End and Year-End Close:
Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
Oversee the preparation of supporting schedules for key accounts, including fixed assets, inventory, and work-in-progress.
Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies throughout the close process.
Internal Controls & Compliance:
Monitor compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
Assess and recommend improvements to internal controls, accounting systems, and processes.
Work with external auditors to ensure a smooth audit process and timely filing of financial statements.
Tax Reporting & Compliance:
Assist in tax reporting, including sales tax, property tax, and payroll tax.
Work with the tax department to ensure timely and accurate filing of corporate tax returns.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, working closely with operations and senior leadership.
Provide variance analysis between budgeted and actual financial results.
Support capital expenditure forecasting and project profitability analysis.
Requirements
Qualifications:
5+ years of accounting experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a senior-level role within the manufacturing industry.
Strong knowledge of cost accounting, manufacturing processes, and inventory management.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
Experience with financial reporting, month-end close, and compliance with GAAP.
Solid understanding of internal controls, audit processes, and tax compliance.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across departments.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
