Senior Electrical Design Engineer Engineering

Recognized and respected throughout the worldwide scientific community and has been synonymous with high quality products and the industry's leading technology. We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer for our current and next generation cameras, imaging energy filters, specimen preparation equipment and other EM products. This individual will be responsible for working closely with the Software and Hardware groups to provide the electrical designs. This position will be based out of our Pleasanton, CA office. The primary function of this role will be as a hardware designer on complex, high performance digital systems including architecture, hardware design, CPLD/FPGA design, exploration of technology, system performance and test. The incumbent will also be responsible for defining system requirements and integration.

  • MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Experience in high performance digital design, board design and layout
  • Experience with board design tools such as Altium, Orcad and Allegro
  • Experience designing high performance systems comprising DDR4, SerDes, Optical transports, communication interfaces and protocols such as PCIe, JESD204b and switching power supplies
  • CPLD/FPGA logic design with Verilog or SV, synthesis and layout
  • Ability to architect hardware platforms and high-speed interfaces
  • Experience with SoCs and microprocessor peripherals such as Ethernet, USB, PCIe, UARTS, I2C, SPI, RS485
  • Productization, communications and collaboration skills to work with the NPI and manufacturing teams
  • Strong comfort level working in a lab environment using digital embedded system debug tools (ICE, logic analyzers, JTAG, Oscilloscopes)

  • DESIRABLE SKILL AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Working knowledge of image sensors

  • EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • BS in Electrical Engineering from a four-year college or university, MS degree is a plus
  • 10+ years of hardware development experience
