Description We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team in Oxnard, California. As a Staff Accountant, your primary role will be to provide financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data and preparing reports. This role will involve complex accounting activities, financial analyses, and the training and mentoring of entry level staff. Responsibilities: Analyze complex financial reports and records Make recommendations based on the analysis and status of reserves, assets, and expenditures Review and ensure the accuracy of journal entries made by entry level accountants Train and mentor entry level staff members Perform variance analyses and prepare account reconciliations Assist with financial and tax audits Document and monitor internal controls in support of the auditing team Coordinate complex accounting projects and initiatives with other members of the accounting and finance team or with other departments Prepare asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information Guide clerical staff in Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable by coordinating activities and answering questions Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information Prepare payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements Answer accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations Prepare special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends Handle monthly and year-end closing of the general ledger including preparation of journal entries Maintain fixed asset records and control; determine depreciation terms/rates to apply to capitalized items Assist the Manager in coordination of audits and preparation of schedules and documents for outside auditors.
