Our law office is interviewing lawyers local to Huntington Beach to fill a part-time litigation attorney position. We deal in construction contract disputes; however, a construction background is not required. We are looking for a hands-on individual with a deep understanding of how to work efficiently and manage daily tasks.
Parents who want to work while their children are in school, or semi-retired attorneys, are the target candidates for this position.
The following are examples of responsibilities, but they are not exclusive:
Drafting pleadings
Investigate the factual evidence surrounding a matter and prepare exhibits, charts, and/or spreadsheets to display information.
Draft and respond to motions, primarily those involving discovery
Propound and respond to discovery
Research
Trial preparation
Manage and respond to communications and correspondence (phone, email, mail)
Requirements:
Minimum 4 years of experience as a litigation associate
California Bar License
Strong grasp of civil litigation procedures
Proficiency in Word, Westlaw, CEB, Outlook, Adobe, and Excel
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic
Availability for 20–30 hours per week
