We’re seeking a dynamic and disciplined Kitchen Manager to lead and elevate our back-of-house operations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment and is passionate about seafood, quality control, and team development. You’ll be responsible for ensuring culinary consistency, operational efficiency, and kitchen staff performance that supports an outstanding guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Staff Management
- Oversee all back-of-house team members, including cooks, prep, dish, and support staff.
- Ensure all team members execute at the highest level with consistency and accountability.
- Support hiring, training, coaching, and performance reviews.
- Enforce kitchen standards and expectations around professionalism, punctuality, and cleanliness.
- Daily Operations & Execution
- Maintain accurate prep lists and assign tasks based on skill level and station.
- Uphold mise en place expectations to ensure smooth service and minimal ticket times.
- Monitor quality, presentation, and timing of all food leaving the kitchen.
- Ensure staff are tasting menu items and adhering strictly to recipes and house standards.
- Sanitation & Organization
- Lead by example in “clean as you go” culture and end-of-day deep cleaning protocols.
- Oversee nightly closing routines, walk-in organization, and FIFO product rotation.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards at all times.
- Financial & Operational Stewardship
- Collaborate on food cost control through portioning, waste reduction, and inventory management.
- Assist in scheduling and labor control based on projected business needs.
- Support weekly ordering, vendor communication, and invoice verification.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 3–5 years of kitchen leadership experience in a high-volume, upscale casual concept.
- Strong understanding of culinary fundamentals, seafood knowledge a plus.
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and hold teams accountable.
- Experience with prep planning, food safety standards, and BOH workflows.
- Ability to stay composed and proactive under pressure.
- ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain).
