SUMMARY
Reports to Project Principal/Manager
Assists Engineers, Project Managers, or Principal by performing the routine aspects of electrical engineering assignments, project design drawings, specifications subsequently providing electrical, lighting and low voltage system design & document production.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential functions for this position:
Performs electrical engineering calculations including electrical load, conduit and electrical system sizing, and equipment (i.e. low/medium voltage power distribution systems, transformers, and panelboards)
Perform Title 24 lighting calculations, Photometrics and design lighting control.
Perform low voltage system design (i.e. security/fire systems, data/telecommunications systems, etc.).
Coordinates project assignments with those of other Project Managers, and Principals in their team.
Reviews drawings supplied by vendors, clients, engineers, architects and then recommend necessary changes.
Perform, determine and learn to understand electrical code to be able to implement design requirements. Respond to issues and work with City, State, and County officials for permits.
May attend site investigations, project kick-off and design review meetings, and interact with clients as their level of experience progresses.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge
Expected to have a thorough understanding of electrical and lighting systems.
Familiar with low voltage systems; Fire Alarm and Data/Communications.
Aware of construction document organization and preparation.
Skills and Abilities
Highly proficient with Auto/CAD to prepare electrical drawings.
Knowledge of Autodesk REVIT and Bluebeam for additional requirements to perform project task with clients.
Knowledge of AGI to perform photometric calculations.
Knowledge of EnergyPro to perform Title 24 lighting compliance.
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.
Knowledge of California Electrical, Energy Code and Building Codes.
Ability to provide and follow written and verbal directions and instructions.
Demonstrate the ability to learn quickly and adhere to new standards and technical requirements.
Able to layout electrical systems.
Demonstrate ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects.
Effective written and oral communications skills are desirable.
Education, Credentials and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Possess a Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification or have the qualifications to take the FE exam. EIT certification is preferred but not required.
Four years of working experience within the construction industry.
Experience with City permit process and DSA (Department of State Architect) approval process.
Work Schedule
In office in Irvine, CA to support the main office in San Jose, CA.
Upon successful completion of training and/or probational period, a remote schedule may be offered.
