This OpportunityWSP is currently initiating a search for an Associate Geologist with experience in fault studies for our Seismic Hazard Team in our Denver, CO office. The following locations will also be considered: Oakland, CA, or any of our offices across the US. Be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.In this position you will contribute to the development of seismic hazard models with limited supervision and provide technical assistance for the collection, identification, and compilation of geological data; generate accurate and concise documentation, ensuring that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards.Your Impact

Review and understand geological and seismological literature to quantify inputs into seismic hazard analyses.

Adhere to quality assurance procedures.

Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems.

Present results of analyses and methodology during meetings with clients, regulators, and other stakeholders.

Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures.

Complete training on assigned tasks.

Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You AreRequired Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Geology, Seismology, or closely related discipline.

Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.

Interest in learning new methodologies and ideas.

Experience conducting geologic investigations potentially including Paleoseismology, Structural Geology, and Tectonics.

Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a scientific and non-scientific audience.

Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.

Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.

Proficiency with technical writing, and communication software, technology, and tools.

Ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Ability to obtain security clearance, depending on project-specific requirements.

Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in LiDAR interpretation, fault trenching, and/or surface geophysics

Proficiency in ArcGIS

PhD highly preferred
