Consider working as a Senior Code Compliance Officer in the Community Development Agency of Nevada County. This position is an integral part of the County's mission to improve the quality of our community by coordinating a fair enforcement program to correct violations of codes and ordinances enacted by the Board of Supervisors in regards to property, buildings, and structures.Knowledge and Skills Required:

Independently interpret applicable permit conditions, and county and state planning, building and zoning ordinances and regulations.
Conduct comprehensive investigations and maintain accurate records of findings.
Prepare concise and accurate reports and recommendations.
Effectively communicate report findings before the Board of Supervisors and courts of law.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
Read and interpret plans, site maps, and a variety of legal documents and property descriptions.

Education and Experience Required: Possession of a high school diploma or GED certificate AND two years of college coursework (60 semester units) from an accredited college or university in natural resource management, city and regional planning, environmental studies, criminal justice, police science or related field; AND two years performing duties comparable to that of Code Compliance Officer II for Nevada County.Or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in natural resource management, city and regional planning, environmental studies, criminal justice, police science or related field AND one year of experience performing duties comparable to that of Code Compliance Officer II for Nevada County. In addition, candidate must be certified as a Code Enforcement Officer from CACEO, ICBO, AACE, CCEC, SCACEO or any other certification approved by the California Association of Code Enforcement Officers. The Senior Code Compliance Officer position is the lead position and is responsible for a variety of tasks including the handling of inspection reports, compliance recommendations as well as obtains and executes inspection warrants, completes complex reports, and appears in courts of law as needed.
