Staff Photonics Test and Validation EngineerLightmatter is a photonic computer company redefining what computers and human beings are capable of by building the engines that will power discoveries and drive progress in a sustainable way. With modern human progress relying heavily on computers, the world has hit a dead end with traditional transistors, and the prospect of constantly building data centers is an environmental nightmare. Lightmatter has created a solution in photonic computing: using photons instead of electrons to take advantage of their higher bandwidth. We build chips for artificial intelligence computing. Our architecture leverages the unique properties of light to enable fast and efficient inference and training engines. In this role as a part of the product engineering team you will be focused on High Volume Manufacturing (HVM) testing, developing novel wafer and package level HVM testing strategies of Lightmatter’s Silicon Photonics products. You will also help in setting up validation capabilities and carrying out validation tests. You will be expected to support customer deployment and related technical issues.Responsibilities
Work closely with architecture, design, product engineering, and customers to understand the test needs.
Create test plan documentation, feasibility analysis, and provide feedback early on during the design phase.
Define, develop, and setup of wafer and package tests for Lightmatter silicon photonics products.
Developing automation for software platforms to execute the tests and extract parametric data.
Setup and operate a range of optical equipment such as lasers, DCA, BERT, OBR/OVA, and switches for HVM testing.
Work closely with Operations on wafer sort/package test timelines.
Engage with silicon and platform validation teams and bridge any gaps between the test and validation teams.
Help enable reliability teams for pre and post stress test needs
Keep up to date with the latest developments in Silicon Photonics technology and testability
Requirements
MS or PhD in Photonics, Physics, Electrical Engineering or a related field
6+ years of proven experience in silicon photonics test development preferably on a high volume transceiver product.
Hands on lab experience in Optoelectronics link testing of photonics chips or components/devices
Experience working with test equipment including lasers, VNA, switches, spectrum analyzers, high speed oscilloscopes (DCA), BERT, source-meter units, and/or OBR etc.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and LabVIEW for test automation
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and solve issues during the testing process
Ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders with strong communication
Preferred qualifications
Ph.D in photonics or related field
Experience working in HVM environment from NPI to Mass Production
System level validation experience of silicon photonics products
