ABOUT THE POSITION: The City of Monterey has two Automotive Mechanic vacancies. The Automotive Mechanic is a full-time position in the Fleet/Mechanical Division of the Plans and Public Works Department for the City of Monterey. This position will support, maintain and repair the City's fleet of over 220 various vehicles and pieces of equipment including police patrol cars, fire engines, lift trucks, a sewer jet truck and a small fleet of hybrid and electrical vehicles. Certification/Training as a Fire Mechanic is highly desirable.

Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: Two (2) years of journey level experience in the overall repair of trucks, automotive and light power driven equipment.
Education: Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school.
Additional Requirements:
Ability to obtain a California Class B Driver’s License.
