Job Summary:
As a Janitor for CALPIA (California Prison Authority), you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, hygiene, and overall presentation of the Healthcare Facilities where patients receive medical or dental care.
Your primary role will involve performing thorough cleaning and maintenance tasks, managing supplies, and ensuring a clean environment for patients and employees. You would need to be available to work on weekends and can work varying schedules. We ask that you are comfortable working in medical treatment areas inside of a prison and understand you will be working with and walking through areas where incarcerated individuals live.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Routine cleaning and sanitizing of surfaces floors, walls and ceilings
- Sweep all floors and remove any spots or stains
- Empty and clean wastebaskets and replace liners
- Clean and sanitize toilets and sinks in interior and exterior restrooms
- Mop floors in restrooms and other areas as necessary
- Wipe mirrors in restrooms (if applicable)
- Refill restroom soap dispensers
- Monitor and replenish all dispensers with paper products (toilet tissue and paper towels)
- Routine cleaning of exhaust grills and lighting fixtures with a detergent/and or disinfectant as appropriate
- Maintain a service log record of all services performed for each workday
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by the facility
- Maintain keys and combination lock codes if required

Dependable: Reliable and punctual, with the ability to adhere to a cleaning schedule and meet deadlines consistently
Ability to utilize a wide array of custodial chemicals and general cleaning chemicals
Ability to safely operate custodial equipment (vacuum, floor cleaners, chemical dispensers)
Ability to communicate effectively with the on-site personnel and your off-site employer
Attention to detail
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Human relations skills to build effective working relationships

UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS:
Must wear clearly identifiable uniform clothing that will be provided to you. Blue denim, olive, camouflage, orange and blue chambray fabrics are not allowed to be worn during work at the facility.
ELECTRONIC REQUIREMENTS:
Must have the ability to upload Intuit/QuickBooks time tracking APP (mobile phone) to accurately enter/track time for payroll requirements.
TRANSPORTATION REQUIREMENTS:
Must have reliable transportation and the ability to obtain transportation in the event of last-minute transportation issues.
SAFETY COMPLIANCE: Must train on PPE, OSHA and Bloodborne Pathogen requirements. Must maintain all safety protocols and guidelines while performing cleaning tasks, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
BACKGROUND CHECK REQUIREMENTS:
Successful candidate must be able to pass a criminal background investigation, physical exam and /or drug screening/drug and a TB test at the time of application. Must present copy of California DL and Social Security card to obtain Gate Clearance to the facility.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employees must have the ability to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods of time without assistance. Good physical condition and strength is required to complete the job duties which may include bending, kneeling, lifting and operating cleaning equipment.
