But we all share one goal: to improve the world responsibly and safely.KBR manages the Intelligent Systems Research and Development Support (ISRDS) contract supporting NASA Ames Research Center's Intelligent Systems Division (ISD) in developing and infusing advanced technology into NASA missions. KBR scientists, engineers and technologists support research and development of critical enabling technologies for all of the NASA Mission Directorates. This KBR-led team has supported technology development for NASA space exploration missions such as LADEE, TESS and the VIPER Lunar Rover, supports payload development for the International Space Station, and develops robotics and autonomous operations technologies for lunar and planetary exploration, and performs research in computer science, applied physics, quantum computing and materials modeling (including quantum materials) among many other areas.KBR has an internship available to support the Quantum Materials Group in performing research in efficiently mapping materials problems to quantum computers. The candidate must have a BS in physics (or equivalent) and a strong background in quantum mechanics and a good mathematical background. Good programming skills is desirable, as well as experience with machine learning and large language models. It is expected the student will be enrolled in a graduate program in physics and have demonstrated relevant experience.REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Basic Compensation:$25 - $31 per hour.This range is for the California area only.The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity. Additional Compensation:KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation.
