The Opportunity

As our Quality Control Lead, you'll be instrumental in executing our quality strategy on the shop floor. You'll perform critical inspections, ensure adherence to specifications, and help guide our production teams toward achieving superior quality. This is a vital role with significant impact on our operational efficiency, client satisfaction, and continued growth.

Key Responsibilities

Perform detailed inspections and tests on raw materials, in-process components, and finished products for metal fabrication and construction projects.

Ensure strict adherence to AWS D1.1 (Structural Welding Code – Steel) requirements.

Proficiently read, interpret, and work extensively with complex shop drawings to verify accurate fabrication and assembly.

Document inspection results, identify non-conformances, and collaborate with production to address quality issues promptly.

Assist in the investigation of root causes for defects and support the implementation of effective corrective and preventative actions (CAR).

Verify compliance with all relevant industry standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements, including those related to AISC Certification.

Support calibration programs for all inspection equipment.

Provide guidance and training to production personnel on quality standards and best practices.

Maintain organized quality records and documentation.

Qualifications

Associate's degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience.

Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in roles within a metal fabrication, construction, or similar heavy industry environment.

Demonstrated experience working in an AISC Certified facility is highly preferred.

Strong, demonstrable knowledge and application of AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code – Steel.

Proven ability to read, interpret, and work extensively with complex shop drawings.

Proficiency in using various inspection tools and metrology equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM, Faro Arm, etc.).

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with a knack for collaborating across teams.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
