GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Under the supervision and direction of the Maintenance Specialist II, performs general repair and maintenance duties. This position will also provide shipping and receiving support including food delivery when needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Operates and maintains agency vehicles according to state law and or safety requirements.

2. Performs or directs general repair and maintenance on all agency locations. This will include electrical, plumbing and structural repairs. This includes minor repairs at various centers.

3. Maintains warehouse in a clean orderly and safe conditions.

4. Shipping and receiving duties including receiving/unloading merchandise, inventorying items and distributing to various centers.

5. Deliver food and mail to centers as needed.

6. Performs routine safety and preventative maintenance inspections of all childcare centers.

7. Will provide custodial support as needed.

8. Must have consistent and regular attendance.

9. Must demonstrate ability to work well with others.

10. Other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

Basic elements of electricity, plumbing and carpentry.

Applicable laws and safety rules pertaining to the operation of a motor vehicle.

Basic custodial techniques, use of cleaning materials and floor care products.

Ability to:

Perform minor plumbing, and structural repairs.

Perform daily work with a minimum of supervision.

Safely operate a vehicle in accordance with the law.

Load and unload vehicle with cases of various weight.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Understand and follow written and oral instructions.

Experience:

Three years of repair and maintenance.

Two years’ experience in construction is preferred.

One year of general work experience in janitorial or custodial work.

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent.

Physical

Requirements:

Facility to see, read and distinguish colors, with or without vision aids, a computer screen, instructional materials, rules and policies and other printed matter.

Facility to hear and understand speech at normal room levels, and to hear and understand speech on the telephone.

Facility to speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal conversations and on the telephone.

Physical agility to lift and carry from 40 to 100 pounds and to bend, stoop, walk and reach overhead.

Physical agility to push/pull, squat, twist and turn.

Facility to drive a car (valid CA driver’s license and insurance required for privately owned automobiles).

TB clearance every four (4) years.

Proof of measles and pertussis vaccination required.

Proof of Flu vaccination or declination required annually.

FBI, DOJ and Child abuse Index Clearance required.
