Job Summary:

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment in designated facilities. This role includes daily cleaning, sanitizing, and restocking of supplies in restrooms, offices, classrooms, and common areas. The Custodian also performs routine maintenance and reports any repairs or safety hazards to the supervisor. This role is crucial in ensuring a welcoming and healthy atmosphere for employees, visitors, and students (if applicable).

Key Responsibilities:

Cleaning and Sanitizing: Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors. Clean windows, mirrors, and surfaces. Sanitize high-touch areas to maintain a hygienic environment.

Restroom Maintenance: Restock supplies, clean and sanitize restroom fixtures, and empty trash receptacles.

Trash Removal: Empty trash and recycling bins in all designated areas and ensure proper disposal.

Minor Maintenance: Address minor maintenance issues, such as replacing light bulbs and unclogging drains. Report major issues to maintenance staff.

Safety Compliance: Follow established protocols to ensure safe handling of cleaning supplies and equipment. Adhere to all health and safety regulations.

Special Projects: Assist with special cleaning tasks as directed, including seasonal projects, deep cleaning, or event setup and teardown.

Inventory Management: Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies. Communicate inventory needs to the supervisor.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Proven experience in a custodial, janitorial, or cleaning role.

Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and safety procedures.

Ability to work independently and follow detailed instructions.

Physical stamina to perform manual labor, including lifting, standing, and bending for extended periods.
