Position Overview
Website Depot is looking for a talented Back-End Web Developer / Project Manager to join our team. This role combines hands-on technical development with leadership responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in WordPress, Shopify, and DNS/hosting integrations, along with experience managing a small team of developers. You will be responsible for building and maintaining web applications, ensuring technical best practices, and leading projects from concept to completion.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and optimize back-end systems for WordPress and Shopify websites
Manage DNS, hosting protocols, and server configurations to ensure site stability and performance
Build and maintain APIs, integrations, and custom functionalities for client websites
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to web hosting, domains, and server environments
Lead and manage a small team of developers, assign tasks, and oversee project execution
Define project scope, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget
Collaborate with designers, front-end developers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions
Implement and monitor security best practices for all projects
Maintain documentation for projects, integrations, and technical processes
Qualifications
Strong experience with WordPress development (custom themes, plugins, optimization)
Solid knowledge of Shopify development and app integrations
Hands-on experience with DNS management, hosting protocols, and server environments (AWS, cPanel, Cloudflare, etc.)
Proficiency with PHP, MySQL, and familiarity with JavaScript frameworks
Understanding of APIs, webhooks, and third-party integrations
Experience with Git, version control, and deployment workflows
Proven track record of managing web development projects and leading small technical teams
Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects at once
Familiarity with Agile or Scrum project management methodologies
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Experience managing distributed teams or freelancers
Knowledge of SEO best practices and site performance optimization
Familiarity with additional platforms such as WooCommerce, Magento, or BigCommerce
