Job Summary:
The Armed Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of personnel, clients, visitors, and property. This role requires carrying and potentially using a firearm in accordance with local, state, and federal laws. Officers must be highly vigilant, maintain a strong presence, and respond quickly to incidents and emergencies.
Key Responsibilities:
Patrol assigned areas on foot or by vehicle to detect and prevent signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances.
Provide armed escort for high-value transfers or sensitive areas.
Monitor surveillance equipment and inspect buildings and access points.
Maintain detailed logs and write reports on daily activities and incidents.
Deter criminal behavior through visible presence and strong situational awareness.
Control access to facilities and verify identification of visitors and employees.
Respond quickly to emergencies, including medical, fire, or criminal incidents.
Liaise with law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical personnel.
Ensure compliance with all legal regulations and company policies regarding use of force and firearms.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required.
Must possess a valid Armed Security Guard License (as required by state law).
Minimum 1–2 years of security or law enforcement experience preferred.
Must be legally authorized to carry a firearm and maintain all required certifications.
Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must pass background check, drug screening, and firearm qualification.
Basic computer proficiency for report writing and surveillance monitoring.
Working Conditions:
May require standing or patrolling for extended periods.
Exposure to varying weather conditions depending on location.
May involve shift work, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime.
