Distillery & Caning Operations Manager (El Segundo)

We have an AMAZING opportunity to join the team at R6 Distillery in El Segundo, California!

Position Overview:

R6 Distillery, a renowned craft distillery located in El Segundo, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Distillery Operations General Manager. This key leadership position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the distillery, ensuring the smooth and efficient production of our high-quality spirits, premium whiskeys, RTDs, Non-Alc products and other private label brands. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of distillery and/or bottling operations, including experience with advanced bottling and canning lines, and will have experience in blending batches of distilled spirits.

Key Responsibilities:

Facility Management:

- Open and close the distillery facility daily, ensuring all security protocols are followed.

- This includes managing the labor staff on production days, cleaning and setup, breakdown and organizing post-run.

- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.

- Oversee maintenance and repairs of equipment to ensure optimal operation.

Production Oversight:

- Manage all aspects of the distillation process, from raw materials to finished products.

- Supervise the operation of the bottling line and canning line, ensuring efficiency and quality control.

- Schedule and coordinate production runs to meet demand while maintaining product consistency.

- Ability and skill to operate a forklift, pumps, and other equipment are a major plus

Batch Blending:

- Blend batches of distilled spirits according to established recipes and quality standards.

- Conduct sensory evaluations and quality assessments of spirits to ensure product excellence.

- Maintain detailed records of all blending processes and adjustments.

Team Leadership:

- Supervise and lead the production team, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations.

- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that encourages team members to achieve their best.

- Coordinate with other departments, such as marketing and sales, to support company objectives.

Inventory and Supply Chain Management:

- Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, packaging supplies, and finished goods.

- Month-end inventory report for the distillery as well as off-site storage (Long Beach) for raw material, finished goods inventory (we have examples of past reports as guidance)

- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and maintain strong vendor relationships.

- Implement and manage inventory control procedures to minimize waste and ensure accurate record-keeping.

Compliance and Reporting:

- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to distillery operations.

- Prepare and submit required reports, including production, inventory, and compliance documentation.

- Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure ongoing compliance.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred

- Minimum of 3 years of experience in distillery/beverage/brewery/winery or a similar manufacturing environment.

- Proven experience in operating bottling and canning lines.

- Demonstrated expertise in blending batches of distilled spirits.

- Strong leadership and team management skills.

- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.

- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to distillery operations.

- Experience in inventory management and production planning software.

- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.

- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.

- Comfortable working in a production environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.
