A Marina del Rey-based real estate company with 50 years experience as a leading developer
of multi-family residential communities and other projects in Los Angeles’ westside seeks a
full-time highly skilled attorney.
The company is a fully integrated real estate development, general construction, construction
management and asset manager for its portfolio consisting of a variety of residential and
commercial properties. Total developed portfolio of over 10,000 multi-family residences with
superior quality construction and amenities, and 2.1 million square feet of commercial,
industrial, specialty and tenant improvement projects.
Candidate must have with 20+ years’ experience who can function independently for this solo
in-house counsel position. Must have solid analytical, transactional, insurance, litigation,
management, reporting and excellent communications skills (verbal and written) as well as
ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively.
Strong, broad background in real estate law including drafting, negotiating, reviewing and
interfacing with a variety of parties on residential leases, commercial leases including work
letters, contracts, management-related agreements, operations-related agreements,
development and construction-related contracts including mechanics lien releases, letters of
intent, purchase and sale transactions, loan documents, escrows and closings, easements,
home owners association documents and issues and other various real estate-related
documents, policies and procedures, real estate-related forms and statutory notices and
disclosures required. Must be able to conduct title reviews, be familiar with litigation
documents and be able to advise on real estate-related litigation matters in coordination with
outside counsel.
Needs the ability to locate, hire, recommend and then support and manage California and
Texas outside counsel and third-party consultants. Ability to draft three-day notices and
interface and monitor outside counsel’s unlawful detainer actions would be helpful.
Responsible for oversight, reporting to ownership and coordination with outside consultants on
California and Texas real estate tax valuation appeals. General knowledge of zoning and land
use issues beneficial. Candidate will be able to advise on statutory and regulatory real estate
laws and developments including landlord-tenant and Fair Housing Act.
Candidate will have primary responsibility for insurance policy placements, coverage issues
and insurance claims administration regarding California and Texas real estate assets and
operations as well as reporting on property and tenants’ insurance policies.
Candidate must be proficient with WORD and EXCEL, have Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-
accredited law school, and admission to the California State Bar in good standing. Prior top
