Legal Assistant/Bilingual Preferred

Busy boutique litigation firm in Beverly Hills has an IMMEDIATE opening for a full-time legal assistant position. We are looking for a highly motivated individual that is interested in the legal field. The ideal candidate is either someone with experience as a legal assistant or is a college graduate considering going to either law school or becoming a certified paralegal in the future.

English/Spanish Bilingual Preferred

Duties/Responsibilities:

- Prepares legal documents and correspondence from draft.

- Prepares subpoenas, and drafts/responds to discovery.

- Coordinates meetings/depositions which include but not limited to scheduling conference rooms, notifying participants, etc.

- Maintains high level of customer service and professional demeanor.

- Communicates with clients in a professional manner over the phone, in e-mails, and in person.

- Maintains client and firm files.

- Coordinates mailings, deliveries, copying and courthouse filings where appropriate.

- Reviews, edits and prepares draft/final bills for clients under the supervision of the Attorney as requested.

- Finalizes and organizes documents for filing in court.

- Prepares trial and hearing binders.

- Maintains and displays proficiency in the use of office and computer equipment, computer software and practice specific applications, as required.

- Assumes responsibility for all assignments with specific attention to detail and proofreading.

- Performs administrative tasks and special projects as requested.

- Thinks clearly, responds positively, evaluates situations to determine appropriate action, multi-tasks and acts decisively under pressure.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree (preferred) or 3+ years of experience as a Legal Secretary/Assistant

Key Competencies:

- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and using the internet (mandatory)

- Excellent planning and organizational skills

- Professional demeanor

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must

- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

- Professional telephone manner

- Ability to write clearly and grammatically correct

- Ability to work with and interact effectively with a wide variety of people

- Ability to work in a team environment and/or independently with little direction

- Reliable and trustworthy

- Diligent and a self-starter

- High degree of flexibility
