Associate Attorney (1-3 years)

Top trial law firm is seeking a 1-3 year associate to join a growing plaintiff's personal injury and employment law practice in Los Angeles, California. The firm takes on each case with an eye towards trial and has a track record of success throughout the state. The ideal candidate will have strong research and writing abilities, excellent communication, time management and organizational skills, and will be a team player willing to jump into existing cases and with a desire to be a trial attorney. Associate will work under partner supervision but will be responsible for working up aspects of each case on his or her own. The attorneys work in teams at trial.

General associate responsibilities will be as follows:

-Take and defend depositions of parties, persons most knowledgeable, witnesses, doctors, experts

-Draft, oppose, and argue motions and appear at case management conferences and status conferences

-Propound and respond to written discovery, including meet and confers and related law and motion

-Communicate with and prep clients and witnesses, including expert witnesses

-Prepare for trials, including trial document preparation, witness preparation, expert depositions, focus groups

-Attend and participate in trials, including arguing motions in limine, handling witnesses, with the goal of eventually trying cases from start-to-finish.

Qualifications:

-Strong research skills using tools such as Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw

-Excellent legal writing and drafting abilities

-Prior experience in plaintiff's personal injury litigation

-Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively

-Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

-Exceptional organizational skills
