I have a small practice representing indigenous groups, nonprofits, private seminary & educational institutions and other marginalized groups, frequently on a pro bono basis. I am looking for an assistant to help coordinate my legal calendar and work with us to design, finance and develop several educational buildings in South Central.
We deal with real estate development, property loans and private finance for these groups to help foster and finance their constituent members. I need a person who is a self-starter, extremely loyal, focused, and efficient. I prefer people with a somewhat entrepreneurial spirit who love challenges.
We maintain a reasonable level of unique (i.e., no personal injury, family or employment law) litigation matters, including recognition of tribal rights, but most of our work related to real estate, private insurance, real estate development and other expansive areas of financial law practice. Research and writing skills are helpful, both for legal documentation and for marketing materials in support of syndication and other financing documents. Maintaining records of litigation, registration and other filings and dates requires a person with a keen attention to detail. Excellent communication skills and a gracious attitude towards clients and co-workers is essential.
I also run several developing programs for law and taxation with a OC/LA based seminary, where we are adding several secular programs to train people who will be focused on providing legal services to the indigenous, nonprofit, seminarian and other groups who refer their candidates to this program. So, if you're a bright, focused person we believe that helping people do better with a legal, financial or other entrepreneurial degrees makes them better employees, and our 1961 Seminary can help you with accredited degrees.
For a person who would like to develop into legal work, or even a deeper understanding of how these types of groups can thrive for financial sustainability, this is an interesting opportunity to service clients in California and indigenous groups in Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico and other community developments. Our office has affiliate developments, which include San Bernardino, Henderson NV, Gallup & Albuquerque NM and other interesting opportunities. For a paralegal interested in pursuing a law degree, or for young lawyers more interested in communities of clients, this is an unusual firm.
We are working out of rehabilitation properties, so our offices are predominantly tear downs ready for their next life as a developed business. We have an extremely informal work atmosphere, but the work is serious and very focused. I am working between three offices, so initially this would be a 2-day/week program, but we would expand our program to 5-days when you're more familiar with our entire system. So, while I require at least 2 days, 4 or 5 days withing the next 90 days is a realistic growth pattern.
