We are looking for a capable Shipping and Receiving Clerk to support our company’s daily operations. The Shipping and Receiving Clerk will be in charge of verifying and keeping records on all incoming and outgoing shipments. In addition, they will prepare items for shipping by performing the following duties to quality and productivity standards.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Receive material coming into the building by vendors, customers or other warehouses accurately and promptly
Verify the quantity and description of materials received by checking merchandise against the packing list (quantity, quality, price and etc.)
Examine incoming shipments and reject damaged items; appropriately report/record any discrepancies
Contact supplier or shipper if a mistake is identified
Oversee all outgoing shipments
Performs all computer functions necessary to track various aspects of goods
Receive products from vendor deliveries and unload trucks
Compare packing lists to company purchase orders and ensure accuracy
Update product inventory as products are received and added to inventory
Determine method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates
Affix shipping labels on packages and allocate them to their designated place
Insert items into containers using spacers, fillers and protective padding
Post weights and shipping charges
Safely operate all necessary equipment in work area
Keep warehouse clean and organized on a daily basis
Abide by all company rules, policies and regulations
Competencies
Basic math and reasoning skills
Ability to understand and execute instructions
General understanding of warehouse organization and footprint
Qualifications & Requirements
High school diploma or GED
Ability to lift and move heavy products on a regular basis (50+ pounds at a time unassisted)
Strong attention to detail
Strong computer skills
Working knowledge of computer programs for data entry
Proven warehouse experience
Ability to operate forklift, scissor lift and other warehouse equipment
Ability to walk or stand or long periods of time
Team player with organizational skills
