Job Summary

The Porter is an essential and valuable member of our kitchen team, responsible for supporting restaurant operations through dishwashing, cleaning, and assisting with small food prep tasks. This role requires a proactive individual who is detail-oriented and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The Porter will ensure that the restaurant remains organized, clean, and ready for service.

Key Responsibilities

Dishwashing: Operate dishwashing equipment to clean dishes, utensils, pots, and pans efficiently. Ensure that all items are sanitized and properly dried before storage.

Cleaning: Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas, including sweeping, mopping, and cleaning surfaces. Assist with the disposal of waste and recyclables.

Minor Food Prep: Assist with basic food preparation tasks as directed by the kitchen staff, including washing and chopping vegetables, preparing garnishes, and assembling ingredients.

Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that kitchen equipment is properly cleaned and maintained. Report any malfunctions or maintenance needs to the supervisor.

Stock Management: Assist with inventory management by organizing and restocking supplies as needed. Help with receiving and storing deliveries. Alert a supervisor if stock levels are low.

Health & Safety: Adhere to health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, labeling of chemicals, sanitation practices, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Support: Provide support to kitchen staff during peak hours, including helping with setup and breakdown, and assisting with any other tasks as required.

Qualifications:

Experience: Previous experience in a similar role is a plus but not required. We are willing to train motivated individuals.

Skills: Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Good organizational skills and the ability to follow instructions.

Knowledge: Basic understanding of kitchen operations and food safety practices is preferred.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy items, and work in a dynamic environment.
