Experience: 2+ years in specialty coffee.

Job Overview: We are seek skilled and hospitality focused Baristas to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for coffee, remarkable hospitality and customer service skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. As a Barista, you will be responsible for crafting and serving high-quality coffee beverages and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Responsibilities:

Read, learn, and understand the values set by Civil to be effective ambassadors of the company.

Coffee Preparation:

Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages following drink codes, coffee preparation standards set by Civil, and drink construction that follows drink recipes

Prepare beverage prep recipes that serve as ingredients to build the beverages.

Customer Service:

Greet customers with a friendly and welcoming attitude.

Take customer orders and provide recommendations based on preferences.

Ensure prompt and accurate order delivery while maintaining a positive and engaging interaction with customers.

Find opportunities to go above-and-beyond to create a sense of wonder around the Civil experience.

Cash Handling:

Process customer transactions accurately, handling cash and electronic payments.

Provide correct change and maintain the cash register with integrity.

Count end of day sales cash and gratuity and drop. Fill out the reports required for cash counts.

Cleanliness and Organization:

Keep the coffee preparation area, equipment, and dining space clean and organized.

Perform regular cleaning tasks, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and restocking supplies.

Product Knowledge:

Stay informed about coffee offerings, brew methods, and menu items.

Educate customers about different coffee offerings, flavors, and options.

Quality Control:

Monitor and maintain the quality of coffee brewing, ensuring standards are being meet and proper storage is maintained.

Report any equipment malfunctions or issues to the manager for prompt resolution.

Team Collaboration:

Work collaboratively with other team members, shift leads, cafe leads, and management to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.

Assist colleagues during busy periods and contribute to a positive team environment.

Qualifications:

Previous experience as a Barista or in a similar customer service role is required.

Knowledge of coffee brewing techniques and espresso machine operation.

Must drink coffee as part of work related tasks.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to handle cash transactions and use a cash register.

Exceptional customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts as needed.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for extended periods.

Lift and carry up to 40lbs. Moderate to heavy loads may include but are not limited to (coffee bags, milk crates, paper good boxes, and raw ingredients.)

Able to climb up and down ladders.

Work in a fast-paced and potentially crowded environment.
