DescriptionUnder the supervision of the Medical Director, provide physical therapy evaluation, treatment and consultation for young children (ages 0-5 years) with a variety of developmental disabilities in an early intervention setting. Provide classroom, small group and individual treatment. Provide developmental testing of children. Regular supervision will be provided by the educational director. Is responsible for selection, ordering, fitting, maintenance and proper use of therapeutic equipment for classroom and individual children. Develop and implement UCLA Program Plans and Reviews with professional staff. Provide formal and informal consultation and training of staff, parents, students, residents, outside agencies and visitors.Position may convert to career.Salary range: 67.25-81.62 hourlyQualificationsRequired Skills, knowledge, and abilities:

Graduate of accredited physical therapy program (Masters or DPT) and licensed with the State of California

BLS

Experience working with children with disabilities, ages birth to 5 years

Knowledge of normal child development and implications involved when dealing with children with developmental delays.

Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team of professionals in a medical/education setting and to function as a physical therapy consultant.

Ability to participate in meetings and actively communicate with all team members in planning programs, including Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP) and UCLA Program Reviews for all children enrolled in the program.

Ability to provide in-service training as needed to staff to enhance their knowledge of the therapeutic aspects of each child's care.

Ability to communicate clearly to parents/caretakers in a professional manner with regards to therapeutic needs of their children.

Ability to operate and knowledge of appropriate fit and use of various types of age-appropriate equipment utilized by children with disabilities from 0-5 years.

Ability to communicate technical information in a clear manner and at a level that a non-professional can understand.

Ability to maintain concise records to track the development of children.

Interpersonal skills to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with children (patients), parents; family members, staff and professionals in the community.

Knowledgeable in current evidence based practice for pediatric PT

Skill in physical therapy assessment and treatment of infants and young children with developmental disabilities, particularly evaluation of muscle tone, range of motion, posture, functional ability, motor control, motor planning and compensatory movement patterns.

Knowledge of or skill in using various clinical tools for assessment of motor function in young children including standardized assessments.

Knowledge about a variety of developmental disorders, including possible etiologies, clinical features, associated disabilities, types of treatment used and specific physical therapy treatment and assessment techniques and equipment used.

Skill in communicating clearly and professionally using proper grammar in written and verbal forms.

Ability to lift, carry and position children and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs

Preferred Skills, knowledge, and abilities:

Advanced training in pediatrics or Pediatric Clinical Specialization

Training in current assessments used in Pediatric PT such as, DAYC-2, Bayley IV, HINE, GMA, PDMS, GMFM, GMFCS, SCALE etc.

Experience working as a team member in a classroom setting.
