Little Acorns Grow is accepting applications for an elementary teacher to work in our TK/Kindergarten-First Grade mixed-age class. Using a blend of educational philosophies, we create a fun, safe, and encouraging learning environment. Each school day includes free play time, organized play and learning activities as well as enrichment classes focusing on music, art, physical education and hands-on science.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned.)
Enhance Academic performance
Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and effectively communicate those objectives to students.
Identify students' needs and make appropriate referrals and develop strategies for individual education plans.
Effectively communicate with parents on a regular basis outside the normal classroom day by means of newsletters, e-mail, notes, phone calls and individual parent conferences.
Discuss student problems, behavior incidents, positive developments, and progress with parents in an honest, sensitive, and confidential manner.
Promote parent participation and involvement in education activities provided for their children.
Confer with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve student behavioral and academic problems.
Competence in Content Knowledge
Teach Reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, and science to students in a classroom, using the course of study adopted by the School and other appropriate learning activities.
Provide individual and small group instruction designed to meet the individual needs of students in communication skills, health habits, physical skills, and development of self-concept. Adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student as needed.
Planning/Preparing
Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small-group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
Plan individual and group activities to stimulate academic, social, and emotional growth.
Translate lesson plans and activities into developmentally appropriate learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction.
Methods to Monitor Student Learning
Evaluate students' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports.
Utilize assessment materials and make appropriate classroom student assessments.
Classroom Management
Establish, implement, and enforce rules and procedures for appropriate classroom behavior, to maintain and promote a fair, supportive, inclusive, and positive learning environment
Model and maintain standards of responsible student behavior.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 12 units in Early Childhood Education
Bachelor’s or Associate's degree (preferred), including all courses needed to meet credential requirements.
CPR and First Aid certification
Experience with an education setting or other related field
Possess a teamwork mindset, strong communication skills, organization skills and problem-solving ability
Ability to build rapport with children, families and peers
Experience:
