The Commerce location has an immediate need for an Environmental & Safety Coordinator to work with our Production Management Team. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to transition into a E&H Specialist level position.

Qualifications

OSHA Experience: A minimum of 1-3 years of experience with OSHA standards and regulations is essential. This includes understanding workplace safety, hazard communication, and compliance with OSHA guidelines.

Manufacturing Experience: 6-7 years of experience in the manufacturing industry is required. This involves familiarity with manufacturing processes, machinery, and safety protocols specific to manufacturing environments.

EH&S Experience: Experience supporting a large manufacturing or production facility with 150 or more people. This includes managing hazardous materials, ensuring workplace safety, and implementing environmental protection measures.

Workers Compensation Knowledge: A strong working knowledge of Workers Compensation requirements is crucial. This involves understanding state-specific regulations, reporting injuries, and managing claims to ensure compliance and support for injured worker

Cal-EHS Experience: Extensive experience in Cal-EHS is required. The state has unique methods for enforcing labor laws, and it is essential that the candidate has a proven track record of interacting with government and state inspectors.

Strong attention to detail and proven track record of results with bias for action

Sense of urgency, ability to take action quickly in a fast-paced environment

Ability to establish expectations, motivate and get work done through others effectively

Unquestionably high ethical standards and attention to reputational and compliance risks

Strong knowledge of storage tank regulations, hazardous waste and disposal, SDS, safety and emergency planning

Strong technical and organizational skills in addition to excellent written and verbal communication

Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize, balance, and manage multiple projects.

Proficient in MS Office and Outlook

Bilingual in Spanish/English Highly valued.

Responsibilities

As our Environmental & Safety coordinator you will be expected to and not limited to the following daily duties and more as you successfully acclimate to the role.

Provide technical EHS support to supervisors, employees, and contractors, for on-going daily manufacture, and future safety projects.

Produce safety onboard training to new employees.

Execute safety walks to ensure compliance by employees and supervisors.

Coordinate the safety committee.

Prepares monthly safety meetings.

Ability to influence others.

Good presentation/communication skills.

High level of integrity, strong work ethic, good judgment, and problem-solving skills.

Promote our company family safety culture.

Ensures the plant is safe and in compliance with all OSHA and EPA Standards

Performs inspections and incident investigations, conducts audits, prepares reports, handles facility permitting and interacts with regulatory agencies, consultants and vendors.

Recommends changes to work conditions and procedures to improve the work environment and advises and provides counsel on federal and state regulations covering hazardous chemicals

Ensures that the OSHA LOG 300 is maintained and posted annually from February 1 to April 30

Sends out and announces required notifications, keeps postings up to date, maintains and updates all environmental records including SDS, certificates of liability, safety records, and initiates and updates contractor’s information records as needed

Regularly inspects facilities to identify existing or potential accidents, health hazards and determines/implements corrective measures were indicated

80% of your time on the Manufacturing floor working collaboratively with all plant departments

Acts as a representative of the company and instills that same attitude and level of action in others and is proactive in taking responsibility for all outcomes/results

Manage various EH&S IT platforms and supports the plant with training and upgrades to software

Manage the data consolidation of EH&S and EMS results

Elaborate official EH&S-EMS KPIs and provides periodic updates to the business unit and at the group level

Analyze the energy consumptions and elaborate the relative KPIs to support the activity of the EMS network

Support the Operations Director in coordinating the EMS network keeping track of the action plans

Support HR with information required to properly manage incident and injury reporting communications to occupational medical providers and Workers Compensation carrier

Support the plant to manage all training to site personnel on various EH&S policies and programs, including, but not limited to, safety practices, fire prevention, personal protective equipment, regulations and standards, and incident investigation

Identifies and suggests corrective measures to improve the facility’s accident experience and suggest/implement means to achieve EH&S goals

Validates that OSHA recordkeeping requirements are accurate and completed, i.e OSHA 300A log, incident notifications, serious accidents, etc

Support the investigation of accidents and injuries and prepare supporting documentation as needed

Flexible Scheduling: Ability to coordinate work hours to cover two shifts, in alignment with the chain of command.

Positive Attitude: Demonstrate a proactive approach to following orders and executing tasks promptly.

Safety and Operations Reporting: Adhere to the chain of command when reporting safety concerns or changes in operations.

Promote Safety Culture: Foster and uphold the company’s commitment to safety.

Clear Communication: Maintain effective communication with the Plant Manager and EHS Director
