Metal Fabricator OpeningsJob DescriptionThis position will perform assembly, fabrication, and weld preparation of metal ducting systems. Openings are available on 1st and 2nd shift in the Long Beach/Los Alamitos area for a large aerospace company, with pay starting at $34.79 an hour for 1st shift and $35.20 for 2nd shift. These are union positions with pay rates that increase over time. The 1st shift runs from 6am to 2:30pm, and the 2nd shift runs from 3pm to 11:30pm.Candidates must have complete knowledge of the effects of heat on parts in resistance-spot welding, GTAW-seam welding operations, and manual GTAW processes. They must thoroughly understand and properly use air tools, sanding discs, scotch-brite, flapper wheels, drum rolls for polishing parts for final inspection. Familiarity with disk sanders, belt sanders, scribe tools, Quackenbush cutters, hose clamps, calipers, micrometers, scales, tin snips, and riveting equipment for sizing metal components to precise dimensions is required. Understanding the use of weld plugs and the effect of heat on welded metal assemblies is also necessary. Candidates must maintain their work area and equipment in a clean, orderly, FOD-free fashion and adhere to all safety standards. They will provide guidance and job knowledge to Metal Fabricator 1 and Metal Fabricator 2.Specialist level responsibilities include assisting the department in the development of techniques to increase productivity, quality, and throughput of products and sharing job knowledge within the department.For space product specialization, candidates must be capable of safely handling large, heavy parts and fixtures, must pass crane safety training, provide guidance to other personnel assigned to the space department, and be able to operate trim tooling for large ducting and read Pi-tapes and large scale measuring equipment.Hard Skills
